Bihar Land Survey-Real Owners to be Identified, The Bihar government has launched a new initiative to reduce the growing land disputes in rural areas. Under this, the Bihar Bhumi Survey campaign is being conducted. The aim of this survey is to identify the real owners of the land. Due to the rising prices of land, 90% of disputes in rural areas are related to land.
Many people are making crores of rupees from this, and small disputes sometimes escalate into major riots. This directly impacts law and order. This is why the government wants to ensure the real owner gets their rights through this survey.

Bihar Land Survey: Landowners Will Have to Show Documents
The state government’s goal is to end disputes among people over land. Additionally, the government will have a complete record of village lands. This will prevent any issues in land acquisition in the future.
During the survey, landowners will have to show their documents. However, many people have ancestral land that has been divided only through verbal family partitions. They do not have any documents for it. In such cases, they may face problems during the survey.
Bihar Land Survey- Verbal Partition Not Valid for Survey
Survey officers will only accept official documents. If the partition has been done only verbally, it will not be accepted. For example, if a person’s father has passed away and he has three sons, and they have divided the land only verbally, the survey officer will not accept this division. In such a case, the land will be transferred in the names of all the brothers.
For this, a document with the signatures of all brothers and sisters will have to be submitted. If a brother has passed away, the signatures of all his children will be required. If there is no written document, the land will remain in the names of all the brothers.

Online Applications Also Available for Bihar Land Survey
People of Bihar can also apply online for the land survey. This facility will also be convenient for those living in other states. To apply, one must visit the website of the Land Reforms and Revenue Department. Along with the application, necessary documents will also have to be uploaded on the website.
This initiative is expected to reduce land disputes in rural areas and ensure people get their rightful ownership of land.
